About

A Pretty Little Life is about the small changes that make a home feel like somewhere you want to be. Not renovations. Not a new sofa. The ten-minute version.

Most decorating advice assumes a budget and a blank slate. Very few people have either. What most of us have is a room we already live in, furniture we already own, and about an hour on a Saturday. That is the situation this site is written for.

What you will find here

Home decor that starts with what is already in the room. How to arrange it, what to remove, and which single change makes the biggest difference.

Seasonal ideas that do not require a storage unit. Four small swaps a year will change how a room feels more than a whole new color scheme.

Organizing that stays organized, which usually means fewer systems rather than better ones.

DIY and crafts with an honest difficulty rating. If a project needs a saw, it says so before you have bought the materials.

Jewelry and beauty for real mornings. Pieces that go with everything, routines that survive a rushed Tuesday.

How the advice gets made

Every guide here is written to be used the same day you read it. That means specific numbers instead of vague encouragement: how many inches, how many objects, which third of the table to leave empty.

Where there is a rule, you will get the rule and also the cases where it breaks. Where something is a matter of preference, it will say so rather than dressing an opinion up as a law.

Nothing here assumes you will buy anything. When a purchase genuinely is the answer, the cheapest version that works comes first.

A note on links

Some links on this site may be affiliate links, which means a small commission at no additional cost to you. That never changes what gets recommended or what order things appear in. If something is not worth buying, it will not be here regardless of what it pays.
