1. Privacy at a glance
Summary. This website is built to collect as little personal data as possible. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run Google Analytics, and we do not embed content that loads from third-party servers. Our web analytics run on our own server, without cookies and with shortened IP addresses.
Automatic data collection. When you visit this website, your browser transmits technical data that our web server records in log files. This happens on every website and is technically necessary to deliver the pages to you.
Legal basis. Where we process personal data, we do so on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure, functional operation of the site) or Article 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent), depending on the processing described below.
Data protection officer. We are not required to appoint one. For any privacy matter, contact us at the address in section 2.
Transfers to third countries. Our server is located in Germany. The site operator is a company registered in the United States. See section 14.
Automated decision-making. None takes place. See section 13.

3. Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted on a server operated by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. The server is located in Germany. We have concluded a data processing agreement with the hosting provider.
The hosting provider collects and stores the following data in server log files, which your browser transmits automatically:
- Browser type and browser version
- Operating system used
- Referrer URL
- Host name of the accessing device
- Time of the server request
- IP address
This data is not merged with other data sources. It is processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and the security of our website. Log files are deleted after a maximum of 14 days.
4. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They cause no harm and contain no viruses.
This website sets only the following cookies:
- Consent cookie. If you make a choice in our cookie notice, that choice is stored so we do not ask again on every page. Duration: up to one year.
- Session cookies set by WordPress if you log in to the site as an administrator. These do not apply to normal visitors.
Our web analytics deliberately run without cookies. We set no advertising, tracking, or profiling cookies.
Technically necessary cookies are stored on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Any cookies that are not technically necessary are set only with your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, and you may withdraw that consent at any time.
You can configure your browser to inform you about the setting of cookies, to accept cookies only in individual cases, or to refuse them generally. Disabling cookies may limit the functionality of this website.
5. Contact form and email contact
If you send us an enquiry through the contact form or by email, the details you provide, including the contact details you give, will be stored for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in case of follow-up questions.
We process this data on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request relates to pre-contractual measures, and otherwise on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries) or your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
Data you send us through contact enquiries remains with us until you ask us to delete it, withdraw your consent, or the purpose for storing it no longer applies. Mandatory statutory retention periods remain unaffected.
Email sent to addresses at this domain is forwarded to a mailbox operated by Zoho Corporation. Unencrypted email cannot be guaranteed to be secure in transit.
6. Analytics
This website uses Matomo, an open source web analytics tool. We operate Matomo on our own server at matomo.aprettylittlelife.com. No data is transmitted to any third party.
Our Matomo installation is configured so that:
- it works without cookies,
- IP addresses are shortened before storage, so no conclusions can be drawn about individual visitors,
- no data leaves our own infrastructure,
- the browser Do Not Track signal is respected.
The data collected covers which pages were viewed, when, from which approximate region, with which type of device and browser, and which website referred you. We use this to understand which topics are useful to our readers.
Processing takes place on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in the anonymised analysis of user behaviour in order to improve both our website and our content. Because the setup is cookieless and IPs are anonymised, this analysis does not require consent.
7. Plugins and tools
Fonts. This website uses the typefaces Fraunces and Jost. These are hosted on our own server. No connection is made to Google servers and no data is transmitted to Google when you load our fonts.
WordPress and plugins. The site runs on WordPress. We use plugins for search engine optimisation, image compression, related posts, contact forms, and the cookie notice. These run on our own server and do not transmit visitor data to third parties.
No comment function. Comments are disabled site-wide. No comment data is collected.
8. External content and third parties
At the time of writing, this website embeds no content loaded from third-party servers: no external fonts, no video embeds, no social media widgets, no advertising networks.
Links to external websites are ordinary hyperlinks. They only transmit data once you click them, and from that point the privacy policy of the operator of that site applies. We have no influence over their data processing.
Should we introduce advertising or embedded content in future, this policy will be updated before that happens and, where required, your consent will be obtained.
9. Data processing and processors
Where we use service providers who process personal data on our behalf, we conclude data processing agreements with them under Article 28 GDPR. This currently applies to our hosting provider and our email provider.
10. Your rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access (Article 15 GDPR) — to information about the data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification (Article 16 GDPR) — to have inaccurate data corrected.
- Right to erasure (Article 17 GDPR) — to have your data deleted, unless retention is legally required.
- Right to restriction of processing (Article 18 GDPR).
- Right to data portability (Article 20 GDPR) — to receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to object (Article 21 GDPR) — to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Right to withdraw consent (Article 7(3) GDPR) — at any time, with effect for the future.

For residents of California. If you are a California resident, you may request disclosure of the categories of personal information collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not collect it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Requests can be sent to the same address.
11. Retention and deletion
Unless a more specific retention period is stated in this policy, your personal data remains with us until the purpose for processing it no longer applies. If you make a justified request for erasure or withdraw your consent, your data will be deleted unless we have other legally permissible grounds for storing it, such as statutory retention periods.
Server log files are deleted after a maximum of 14 days. Analytics data is retained for a maximum of 24 months and then deleted.
12. Data security
This site uses TLS encryption (HTTPS) for all connections. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the padlock symbol in your browser’s address bar. When encryption is active, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.
We also use technical and organisational security measures to protect your data against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction, or access by unauthorised persons. Our security measures are reviewed and improved in line with technological developments.
13. Automated decision-making
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.
14. International data transfers
Our web server and our analytics are located in Germany, within the European Union. The site operator, Beprino LLC, is registered in the United States, which means administrative access to data may take place from the United States.
Where personal data is transferred to a third country, we ensure an appropriate level of protection through the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or another legally permitted mechanism.
15. Right to complain to a supervisory authority
If you believe that the processing of your personal data infringes data protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of your habitual residence, your place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement. This right is without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy.
